Mercure St Albans Noke Hotel

Watford Rd, St Albans AL2 3DS, UK – 0871 376 9034

Really enjoyed my 2 night stay here 2 months ago. Room service was efficient. Parking was a breeze. My only issue was the distance from town centre, however I knew that when I booked it so can't very well complain about that can I?! The staff were great and the room was good too. The room overlooked fields and trees so was pleasant to wake up in.

The hotel had plenty of parking, the food is very good, breakfast, or evening meal is superb. The gym has good equipment and a nice pool & sauna. The room were not spotless but clean. The hotel was hot, really hot, it was early July and hot. They did have a fan in the room but the windows could only open 30cm and allowed zero breeze. I stayed for a week, and the worst part was each day the maids closed the windows, the afternoon sum pushed my room up to 32, try sleeping in that. I am sure winter it would be fine, its really time UK hotels started looking more in AC. However I would recommend and use again.

Premier Inn St. Albans Bricket Wood

Smug Oak Ln, Bricket Wood, Colney Street, St Albans AL2 3PN, UK – 0871 527 9016

Lovely location. Children will love stream with ducks, geese and fish. Loads of ducklings and goslings when we stayed in Spring. Beefeater with water wheel and decent food. Real ale in good condition. Room at Premier Inn good. Staff very pleasant. They sell feed for ducks to raise money for charity.

Ideally located for the Harry Potter Studio Tour. Beautiful location. Excellent commuter access. The attached historic pub is lovely! There's even a duck pond, and they sell seeds to feed them with - which my daughter loved. One of the more interesting Premier Inns we've stayed in =)

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The King Harry

2 King Harry Ln, St Albans AL3 4BL, UK – 01727 846904

A wonderful pub with traditions headed by two outstanding managers Tim and John. Beautiful surroundings, nice and family friendly atmosphere. A large parking lot. Unique opportunity to taste different wines and beers. Highly recommended.

Nice pub with a lovely garden. Traffic noisey but a nice relaxing place for a drink in the sun.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!
