Noke Thistle Hotel, Watford Rd, St Albans AL2 3DS, UK – 0871 376 9034
Went here for our works Christmas party last night. This took place in the marquee in the hotel grounds. Tables were a little cramped. Food was great and service was good. All very reasonably priced. There was a bar in the marquee which was well run and the music kept us all (a range of ages and tastes) dancing all night.
Went here after the Harry Potter tour, for a night stay arranged by my parents for a birthday surprise. The reception staff were really friendly and helpful from the get go. The room was amazing, plenty of space and well looked after and clean. I used the pool while I was there really well kept and clean again with friendly staff on hand to help out. The meal we had that night was good and the staff even sorted out a birthday cake for me which was a lovely surprise. In all the hotel was top quality and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Will defferntly be recommending to friends and family who go to Watford.

Quiet, picturesque location. Good Beefeater restaurant and bar next door in a quaint old converted mill. The room and beds were clean and comfortable and the service was excellent. Many thanks to Marta and all the staff who made it a very welcoming and pleasant stay for my family
We enjoyed the stay, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We stayed only 1 night and found the room was clean tidy and warm, well done

Visited the Noke as a part of my birthday present. I was very happy with the stay. The room was lovely and very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
Visited as part of a conference. Excellent service provided by the Conference Team, including facilities, food, etc. Rooms more than adequate. A better hotel than what one might assume at first glance.
2 King Harry Ln, St Albans AL3 4BL, UK – 01727 846904
The new menu has arrived at the King Harry pub, and I love the card-free stuffed guinea fowl breast with tasty veg, delicious. My friend enjoyed his steak and chips, but was very disappointed to find that the horseradish butter was not there, and there was no replacement, apparently it's available next week. Very busy, so you need to book. Great service from Coco and Rebecca! Nice selection of changing beers! All the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked good!
It's a great place, with a great atmosphere and good food it's also got a great bar with outside garden seating. There is parking and the service is excellent. Highly recommended.

Decent Ember Inns chain pub. Beers were good, food came quickly, service at the bar was quick. No issues with it at all.
Lovely food. Very helpful and friendly staff. Cosy pub.
Barnet Rd, London Colney, St Albans AL2 1QU, UK – 01727 823160
Visited on a long car journey, as an alternative to a motorway service area. Substantially better than the services stooped at previously, hot fresh food ( cod and chips was excellent), served reasonably fast, friendly staff, tidy and clean surroundings, spotless toilets, everything a motorway service area isn't
Nice local. Go every Friday for a cask ale and ham, egg and chips. Love it. Nice people too (especially Candy).

Nice hosts, excellent breakfast. Close to train station.
We came back from this wonderfull BB yesterday. The best BB we ever visitetd! Warm and helpfull hostess and host, clean and properly everywere. The breakfast was prepared quickly and presented in a very nice manner. A perfect place for a stay in the London-area. Just 90 min from our daughter in Wimbledon! (That is on the opposite side of London). We will recommend this place to everyone! 5 min walk from the station, where the fast trains got us to St Pancreas in 20 min! BUT - we went directly down Alma road and into the BB from the small road leading from London Road.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
Old Parkbury Ln, St Albans AL2 2DQ, UK – 01923 850317
Lovely campsite with beautifully kept grounds. Archery and woodland walk were great fun. Thoroughly enjoyed our first camping trip.
Nice park and camping cite but too noisy during the night, you can hear M25 near by
